BASScare Maranoa House Dementia Day Care Centre has been providing dementia day care and respite service to people living with dementia for 33 years. Maranoa House offers a range of programs to suit the abilities of people with mild, moderate or severe dementia. Our service is one of the few of its kind and provides a welcoming, secure and homely environment within a charming garden setting. We operate 6 days per week, which offers an invaluable respite option for carers.
We are currently searching for a committed and experienced lifestyle / program assistant to join our team.
The Role
The Lifestyle / Program Assistant is responsible for assisting in the development and co-ordination of quality programs that support and meet the needs of people with dementia, confusion and memory loss.
Some of the duties include:
Conduct purposeful and stimulating group and individual activity sessions.
Complete progress notes on client files.
Provide care for clients in accordance with their Care Plans and Care Instructions
Undertake personal care duties for individual clients when necessary.
Share the responsibility of general hygiene, cleanliness and tidiness of Maranoa House.
About you
You are friendly and love a chat, are patient by nature and enjoy the company of seniors of diverse needs.
You understand the importance of assisting and supporting clients to maintain independence and dignity with respect to activities of daily living and lifestyle.
You are passionate and experienced working with dementia care.
Demonstrated sensitivity, empathy for and understanding needs of carers, partners and families living with Dementia
Your administration skills including computer skills are of a high standard.
Excellent verbal and written skills, in clear handwriting with accurate notetaking and record-keeping.
Hours of work
Permanant part time
28 hours per week
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
9:00 – 4:00 pm

Requirements
- Current police check or NDIS Workers Screening Check
- Certificate 3 or IV in Aged Care
- Drivers licence
- First Aid
- Able to drive a mini bus
Highly desirable
- Experience working in a health, aged care or Not-For-Profit environment
- Experience working with people with dementia or related disorders.
- Certificate IV in Diversional Therapy / Certificate IV Community Services (lifestyle & leisure)
