About Auburn House

A Place for Enrichment: Auburn House located in Hawthorn East, is an aged care provider and specialist aged person's mental health unit with 30 private rooms in a newly refurbished home like environment. Berengarra in Kew is a modern purpose built 90 bed residential aged care facility caring for 60 mainstream residents and 30 aged persons mental health residents. We care for residents with diverse mental health, behavioural, psychological and physical needs. Our care model is centred around the person, ensuring their ability to make choices in every aspect of their lives is supported. We strive for care that is provided in consultation with each person, eliminating institutional elements to the greatest extent possible.

We are a vital part of St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne Residential, Palliative Care & Correctional Health Services, a key clinical service program of SVHM and broader SVHA Public Hospital division.

As a Lifestyle Assistant at Auburn House and Berengarra, you will play a crucial role in nurturing individual interests, maintaining motivation and stimulating residents through a variety of group and individual activities. Your responsibilities will include providing personal support, documenting activities with accuracy and evaluating the effectiveness of care services delivered. This role is pivotal in contributing to the overall well-being and quality of life of our residents.

Classifications for this position will range from IN31 - IN33 ($55,510-$64,464 per annum pro rata)

About You

Expertise and Enthusiasm: We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced aged care Lifestyle Assistant. Along with a positive work attitude and engaging manner enabling you to thrive on the unique and varied needs of our resident population, you will need to possess the following:

• Minimum Certificate III in Lifestyle/Leisure or equivalent
• Intermediate computer skills using MS office and healthcare database programs
• Previous experience working in a residential aged care setting or similar environment
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of dementia management strategies and mental health
• Ability to practice within a "person centred car" frame work
• Proven ability to contribute to a high functioning multidisciplinary team and work independently
• Willingness to assist and support change and implement process improvements
• Effective communication skills with residents, representatives and staff at all levels
• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain
