Job description

Our team is passionate about our mountain and our people. If you thrive on the satisfaction of great customer care, being on the ball, being on time, are ready for a life-changing challenge and the chance to be part of a power-team – let’s talk! Mt Buller promises an ‘office’ like no other and yes, skiing and boarding is part of the experience with a season pass just one of the perks of working with us. You’ll be up for pulling together with your crew, bunking in shared accommodation and the unpredictability and unique challenges of the alpine environment.

Mt Buller has more than 300 hectares of spectacular skiable terrain including more than 80kms of groomed trails. This amazing ski area is accessed via Victoria’s largest lifting network of 21 lifts operated by Lift Attendants/Operators who are motivated, safety conscious, and service oriented.

Our Lift Operations and Access Control team members enjoy working in a spectacular alpine environment and thrive on face to face contact with our guests. Lift Attendants/Operator Volunteers are Mountain Operations front line staff and therefore must be committed to providing an exceptional level of guest service. This means Lift Attendants/Operator volunteers must be extremely active, engaging, and able to communicate with guests in an informative and friendly manner.

This position will require you to volunteer to cover 35 lunch breaks (each lunch break is one hour), for the purpose of providing lunch relief for Lift Operations and Access Control team members in accordance with the lift operations roster. You must be available to perform lunch relief duties from the commencement of the July school holidays until the end of the first week in September. As a volunteer you will be required to co-operate and assist team members of BSL. You must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions, and be of good health and fitness. Please note, this is not a paid position and you must have your own accommodation.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with loading/unloading guests at a designated lift
  • Establish and maintain all operational aspects of a designated lift station including load/unload platforms, queue race and tools
  • Are constantly aware of the position of guests, other team members and their movements around lift stations
  • Maintain friendly, co-operative relationships with guests and team members. Display a positive attitude at all times
  • Ensure all passengers lower the restraining device, and slow or stop the lift in case of a mishap
  • Complete all relevant documentation including incident/accident forms
  • Communicate lift associated problems or incidents to the Control Centre
  • Assist Access Control with ticket checking when required
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as requested by Supervisors from time to time

We're looking for people with:

  • Proven experience in the guest service industry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Safety awareness
  • Ability to work outdoors in different weather extremes, whilst still maintaining a friendly and positive disposition
  • High regard for personal appearance and presentation
  • A happy, healthy, active, and positive attitude
  • Solid work ethic
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Previous skiing/snowboarding experience
  • Previous employment in Lift or Access Control Operations at other resorts is an advantage but not essential

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years old
  • Must be able to commit to 35 lunch breaks between the commencement of the July school holidays and the end of the first week in September
  • Must have own accommodation.

You work and play hard. Fresh snow gets your heart pumping. Us too. We are single-minded about delivering the best possible mountain experiences for our guests and our team. We will deliver training, opportunity and support and invite you to join us. Together - let’s make a difference, make some turns and make memories.

Don’t miss your chance to join our team this winter and create some unforgettable memories for yourself and our guests. www.bullerjobs.com.au
