Di Metal Design are a well-established Australian engineering company based in Thomastown. We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Light Sheet Metal Fabricator who is self-managed and motivated to join their team.
The role will suit someone who has experience working in a busy workshop environment, reading shop drawings, and fabricating various metals including stainless-steel and mild steel products and applying appropriate welding techniques in accordance with specifications and production schedules.

About the role
- A full-time permanent position, working Monday to Friday
- A hands-on role with strong attention to detail
- Fabrication of various intricate items and projects
- High attention to detail and quality control
- Ability to work conscientiously and show initiative
- Strong experience with power and hand tools
- Maintain safe work practices
- Interpretation of technical drawings
- Checking fabricated items prior to and after welding
- Perform welding duties using TIG and MIG welder
- Weld stainless steel components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions
- Work includes set-up, laying out work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to fabricate parts and rework finished products.
- Operate Forklift, use of hand power tools, grinders, oxy set, and other hand tools related to the job needs.
- Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications
Qualifications & Experience
- Light Metal Fabricator Trade qualifications -Cert III in light metal
- Experience with Stainless Steel, Aluminium, Mild Steel fabrication
- Maintain a strong focus on quality and safe work practices
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to change
- Excellent skills in MIG & TIG Welding of Stainless Steel.
- Forklift Licence
- Experience in the operation of CNC Guillotines, Brake-Press and other fabrication machinery.

Hours of Work
Monday – Thursday 7:25am – 4pm, Friday 5:55am – 12pm (38 hour working week) and regular overtime.
