Job description

Background

The resort is owned by the Wunan Foundation, a not-for-profit organization based in Kununurra, Western Australia. It was established in 1997 to provide support and services to the Indigenous people of the East Kimberley region. One of the main goals of the foundation is to promote economic development and self-sufficiency for Indigenous communities in the region.

In 2020, the Wunan Foundation purchased the Lily Lagoon Resort. The purchase was part of the foundation's broader strategy to promote economic development and employment opportunities for Indigenous people in the region.

By acquiring the resort, the Wunan Foundation was able to support a local Indigenous-owned business and provide employment opportunities for Indigenous people in the region.

The purchase of the resort also aligns with the Wunan Foundation's broader strategy to promote sustainable and culturally appropriate tourism in the region. By investing in Indigenous-owned businesses and promoting cultural tourism, the foundation is helping to preserve Indigenous cultures and promote economic development in the region. Wunan’s vision is to be self sufficient and free from government grants before 2030.
