We are looking for a skilled operator to set up, maintain and operate our machinery. You’ll ensure the efficient running of production whilst maintaining a high level of quality.
The ideal candidate will be reliable and able to work with great attention to detail whilst maintaining a safety-first focus. You’ll be naturally curious about problems, have a willingness to learn and be open to improvement. We are a tight-nit team that loves to get our hands dirty from the top down, so being hands on and a team player are essential in our workplace.
Purpose: Ensure smooth and efficient operation of our production lines, whilst maintaining optimum fruit quality, employee well being and workplace safety.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Setup machines (calibration, cleaning, etc.)
- Ensure any documentation is correct & recorded in a timely manner.
- Control and adjust machine settings.
- Feed raw materials (empty cartons, fruit bins, hat-bins, etc) as and when required.
- Inspect quality in-line with QA standards, both of the end product and also the quality throughout your line.
- Test operation of machines periodically
- Maintain & check daily records to spot any machine or process related issues that may affect production or quality. Alert your manager as required.
- Stock control
- Safe handling/operation of chemicals
- Comply with, and ensure others comply with, company policies and procedures:
- Safety
- Hygiene and sanitation
- Employment conditions
- Notify your manager of anything that may threaten or compromise people, property or quality incl. pests, disease, defects, contaminants, health and safety risks, etc.
- Any other duties as reasonably requested of you by your manager.
- Ensure regular clean-down procedures are followed, and to the standard required.
- Troubleshoot/help with maintenance as and when required.
Requirements:
- Experience as a machine operator is ideal.
- Working knowledge of machinery.
- Understanding of production.
- Fruit packing experience is advantageous.
- Strong communication & people skills.
- Health and safety focused.
- Attention to detail.
- High risk license or a willingness to attain one.
