Your new role
This position requires an electrically qualified fieldworker focused on primary tasks such as inspections, construction, repair, and maintenance. The goal is to ensure safety, reliability, sustainability and affordability of their overhead network assets for their customers.
The main duties are:
- Safely undertake work to the approved standards of quality, cost and time, ensuring safety remains the primary focus at all times.
- Inspect, install and / or maintain overhead network infrastructure and electrical equipment such as structures, associated hardware, overhead conductors, cables and other electrical apparatus.
- Install and / or maintain poles, insulators, hardware, cross‐arms, stays, conductors and clearances.
- Perform low voltage heat shrink terminations and switching operations.
- Undertake steel tower work.
- Erect and install 11kV heat shrink / cold shrink jointing terminations.
- Coordinate the connection and disconnection of mobile generators (no synchronisation).
- Coordinate emergency response activities.
- Conduct complex fault-finding, testing and associated repair work on the overhead network.
- Coordinate assessment and preparation of job site for upcoming work including estimating and preparation of quotes.
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified Line Worker – Cert III in ESI Power Systems (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in an electrical trade role within the electricity distribution or related industry, including technical expertise in line work.
- Class MR driving licence.
- Electrical Safety Rules accreditation and other relevant statutory training.
- Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.
- High Risk Work Licences (HRWL) – multiple, such as Elevated Work Platform and Dogging.
- WH&S WorkCover – General Induction.
- Competence in the connection and disconnection of mobile generators (no synchronisation).
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of technical advice to both internal and external stakeholders.
