I’ve a new DevOps engineering role for a hardware/firmware business that work in the security space. This is a global business who have contracts with Borderforce, the dept of defence and the Australian Government.
Their range of security and threat detection products are used around the world and the Sydney team are responsible for a large part of their software production.
This is not a traditional devops role using AWS as they’re still on a physical server. They do have a CI/CD pipeline but that’s for maintenance reasons mainly. This is more about building networks on a server and working with Linux a lot.
You would be;
- Working with Docker on a daily basis (they’re currently running 20 containers)
- Helping the dev team with their deployments & updates
- Working with Python for scripting purposes
- Setting up servers and network components
- Developing standalone Ubuntu installer to deploy products
- Integrating build processes into Jenkins and Bitbucket build pipelines
- Assist local and remote staff with deployments
- Designing procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance
We also need a strong communicator who can problem solve really well and work across various teams within the business, from dev to product and QA.
Programming is more a bonus really (scripting in bash or python preferred)
