Team
This team brings together an elite group of technologists responsible for improving the performance, reliability, tools, automation, and monitoring of high-performance, mission-critical, real-time Linux environments. It is imperative that these continuously running systems are fast and ultra-reliable and you will collaborate with development, trading, and operations teams to ensure the systems are highly optimised, efficient, and align with defined security and risk standards.
Role
The role remit is to design and develop automation and tooling to improve the efficiency of machine and network operations. You’ll design and deploy tightly integrated observability tools to monitor the performance and availability of infrastructure and applications, and proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact downstream services.
You’ll collaborate with hardware and software vendors to evaluate and test new technologies and recommend improvements to existing infrastructure, work with development teams to ensure that applications and services are designed for high availability and fault-tolerance and can be efficiently operated in data centre and cloud environments. And continuously improve infrastructure operations by identifying areas for optimisation, automation, and process improvement.
Requirements:
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in Site Reliability / DevOps Engineering.
- Focused experience on reliability, availability, security, and performance.
- A strong Linux engineering base, ideally with some optimization skills.
- Networking fundamentals (routing, switching, TCP/IP model, multicast).
- Solid scripting skills with any/all: Python, Golang, Shell et al.
- CI/CM/CD with any/all: Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet, Docker, K8s.
- Cloud: AWS and/or GCP platforms & ecosystems.
- Experience within a high performance, low latency dependant environment such as a trading firm or the financial markets arm of a big bank.
- Polished Communication and Interpersonal skills along with a can-do attitude.
- Bachelor’s, master’s or PhD level degree in computer science or mathematics.
- A history of good tenure in your career history (e.g., 4+ years average).
This role would be suited for a DevOps Engineer / SRE with a Linux base, strong scripting skills (Python/Golang) and experience with system reliability, scalability, availability, and performance. Ideally coming from a financial markets / Trading Systems infra background / environment.
