About the position

New South Lawyers is seeking a Litigation Associate to join our team, focusing primarily on civil litigation and building and construction litigation. In this role, you will work closely with the firm's directors and other staff to provide legal advice and representation in matters related to litigation. You will be responsible for initiating these proceedings, and ensuring compliance with relevant legal standards.

Key Responsibilities 

• Manage Complex Matters in Collaboration with Senior Members of the Litigation Law Team 
  • Collaboratively handle matters from inception to resolution, ensuring effective and timely outcomes.
  • Collaboratively develop and implement comprehensive case strategies with minimal supervision.
  • Attend court proceedings and prepare for trials, hearings and ADR.
     
• Advanced Legal Research and Analysis
  • Conduct sophisticated legal research on complex issues, ensuring thorough understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and precedents.
  • Analyse and interpret intricate legal documents, statutes, and case law to develop advanced case strategies.
     
• Drafting High-Level Legal Documents and Correspondence
  • Draft complex pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with precision and attention to detail.
  • Review and finalise high-stakes correspondence and documentation related to significant litigation matters.
     
• Advanced Document Review and Management
  • Oversee document review and discovery processes, ensuring identification and organisation of critical information.
  • Manage comprehensive case files and databases, maintaining accuracy and facilitating efficient case management.
     
• Client Interaction and Strategic Communication
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing strategic updates and discussing detailed case strategies.
  • Collaborate with clients to obtain critical information and documentation, ensuring effective communication and relationship management.
     

Skills and Qualifications

1. 3-5 years Post Admission experience 
    
2. Analytical and Research Skills

• Strong analytical abilities to assess and interpret complex legal documents and information.
• Proficiency in legal research to stay informed about changes in litigation law and practice.

3.   Communication and Negotiation Skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Effective advocacy skills for representing clients in court.

4. Attention to Detail and Accuracy

• High level of attention to detail to ensure precise and accurate documentation.
• Commitment to thoroughness in reviewing legal files and preparing documentation. 

5. Organisational and Time Management Skills

• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure to meet court timelines and client expectations.
