Morgan Conley is a well-established boutique law firm located in the Brisbane CBD with a thriving commercial, litigation and insolvency practice. We operate a collaborative practice, and you will have the opportunity to work with and learn from each of our four experienced directors.
We are conveniently located in 239 George Street, with easy access to Queen Street Mall and public transport. The building includes recently renovated end-of-trip facilities including showers, lockers and secure bike racks.
About the role
The role is predominantly focused on commercial litigation and insolvency, but the successful applicant will also have the ability to work on general commercial and property law matters if they desire.
The work mix will see you help clients with:
- Insolvency and general contractual disputes;
- Shareholder, partnership and joint disputes;
- Employment disputes;
- Taxation disputes;
- Professional negligence claims; and
- Estate litigation.
You will also have the opportunity to work on matters such as:
- Drafting, advising and negotiating a range of commercial agreements with clients including start-ups through to large companies;
- Corporate structuring;
- Business succession planning;
- Taxation advice.
Working alongside directors, this role will see you:
- involved in interesting and general commercial litigation, insolvency and property-related dispute matters;
- managing your own files as well as assisting on larger, complex litigation;
- drafting legal documents including court documents and commercial transactional documents;
- appearing in court instructing senior and junior counsel;
- advising a variety of clients, including external administrators, small and medium-sized businesses, and high wealth individuals.

About you
You should be a solicitor admitted to practice in Queensland, with ideally 3 to 5 years PAE in litigation and insolvency.
The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated, confident, reliable and willing to work as part of a close-knit team.
Ideal background and skills include:
- Strong client relation skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong time management and organisational skills together with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and conflicting priorities simultaneously;
- Be a self-starter with the ability to work autonomously but also collaboratively as part of a team;
- Strong attention to detail.
