Carpenter Beef's Joanna Plains Farm, Feedlot & Backgrounding facility is located 1.5 hours north of Perth in Cataby, Western Australia.
Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a new member to join our Team in the position of “Livestock & Feedlot Farm Hand”
Primary Tasks
- All aspects of Animal husbandry including daily animal welfare checks, management of feed bunk and water trough hygiene
- Assisting with Cattle mustering / movements & rotations (Paddocks and Feedlot)
- Feeding of Cattle in Feedlot
- Assist with marking, weaning and preg testing programs
- Preparing cattle for transport (loadouts)
- Assist with cattle arrivals to facility and induction through yards
- Monitoring of Farm and Feedlot infrastructure including (fencing & critical water systems)
- Perform daily pre start and preventative maintenance on Vehicles, Machinery and equipment
- Assist with general maintenance and caretaking
Ideal Candidate
- Hold a current Australian drivers license and have your own vehicle
- Have a passion for the agriculture industry specifically the cattle sector
- Have good time management skills and be able to prioritise tasks efficiently
- Be a team player with good communication skills who is punctual, reliable, honest, motivated and has a good attitude
- Having Computer literacy skills is ideal
- Have the ability to work independently or as part of a Team
- Take ownership, accountability and have pride in your work
- Having previous experience handling livestock, exposure working with livestock specifically cattle is preferred
- Follow all company workplace health and safety requirements and policies
- Having machinery operating experience is ideal - Loaders, Telehandlers and John Deere tractors
- Being accredited with; Chem-Cert, First Aid training, Low Stress Stock Handling, HR license is ideal but not essential
- Have the ability to work alternate rostered weekends

- Attractive hourly rate (based on experience) with opportunities to move into a full-time position available
