AUSTREX has forged a strong reputation in-country and internationally for the safe, sustainable and high quality provision of livestock to respected importers across the globe. We are seeking an experienced Livestock Procurement professional to join our Darwin based team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in a livestock industry environment highly desirable.
- 5 + years of relevant experience in Livestock Procurement.
- The proven ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills while working within a team.
- Strategic thinker with a results-driven approach
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies to meet operational needs and business goals.
- Source and negotiate contracts with livestock suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing and favourable terms.
- Manage and maintain strong relationships with livestock producers, agents and stakeholders.
- Monitor market trends and industry developments to inform procurement decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to optimise logistics and ensure efficient delivery of livestock.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and ethical practices in all procurement activities.
- Provide mentoring, assistance and guidance to junior team members and operate in accordance with our set of AgTrade values.
The successful applicant will have:
- Animal husbandry skills and knowledge (essential).
- Genuine ability to build your own supply channels for livestock to fill the businesses requirements across cattle supply chains.
- Proven experience and ability in strategic procurement processes including supply chain management.
- Experience in driving and implementing process improvements within decentralised and complex businesses.
- The ability to create collaborative and productive working relationships with relevant stakeholders.
- Attention to detail, excellent time management and organisational skills.
- A willingness to work away from home and at weekends as required.
- A good understanding of and respect for safe work practices.
- Current drivers licence.
This role will involve livestock handling duties in quarantine or on-farm when required to support the operations team.
A phone, laptop and fully maintained vehicle will be supplied.
