LIVESTOCK SUPERVISOR 

Woodward Foods Australia – Feedlot Division 

Garrison Feedlot is a 5,000 head feedlot located just 6 km from Swan Hill, VIC on the NSW border at Murray Downs. Owned by Woodward Foods Australia the well-established feedlot supplies quality short fed cattle to our own abattoir located 10mins drive from the feedlot itself. 

The Role

 We are seeking to employ a suitably experienced, full time Livestock Supervisor/Head Stock person. Working closely with the Feedlot Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out and coordinating all movements of cattle that enter and exit the Feedlot along with the daily monitoring and treatment of feedlot cattle.

 Key Responsibilities

• Selection of cattle for supplying our abattoir, ensuring they meet the required specifications.
• Ensure that all cattle arriving at the feedlot are inducted in a timely manner while prioritising low stress stock handling and ensuring all data collected is accurate and entered correctly.
• Commitment to animal welfare and WH&S principles.
• Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of livestock handling equipment and facilities.
• Lead a team of livestock handlers, providing guidance and direction to ensure efficient    and safe handling of livestock.

Desired Attributes

• Demonstrated experience in a similar role. 
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Strong record keeping skills. 
• Strong understanding of NFAS & Quality Assurance.
• Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of effectively leading teams. 
• Relevant certifications or training in livestock handling and welfare is a plus. 
• Extensive experience in livestock handling and management with a sound Knowledge of       Animal husbandry and welfare practices.

Remuneration package will be commensurate with skills and experience.
