Load Planner / Allocator

The company

Hunter & Northern Logistics is a privately owned Transport and Logistics company working directly for a single client who is a large player in the distribution of groceries all over NSW. Based at Huntingwood, on the clients’ site, we currently perform over 500 deliveries per day with a mix of specialised company and sub-contractor vehicles.

The role

As the Load Planner, you will be responsible for planning delivery service into store each day and allocating with fleet dedicated to the operation. 

A variety of fleet is used to action the work specific to the store service areas. You will set the plan for service today for tomorrows best outcome by your fellow team members.  

You will be required to route delivery service areas with most cost effective and efficient planning local and intrastate areas. Schedule drivers, trucks and specialised vehicles with the use of our transport management system. 

You will be responsible for building outbound loads for AM departures each day and communicate service plan with operations team.

You will work within a small dedicated team report to the Shift Supervisor. Permanent position, working a roster from Monday to Friday inclusive, from 10am to 6pm.

Responsibilities

  • Load Planning customer orders to meet store service schedule for local and intrastate freight.
  • Allocate available drivers and trucks to suitable work.
  • Plan, transport services to ensure client’s requirements are met.
  • Ensure all customer orders are planned for efficient service maximizing utilization of equipment.
  • Communicate bookings with team members and customers activities with use of transport system and Microsoft programs. 
  • Allocating freight with care to ensure the right vehicle and driver perform the best task for both safety compliance and fatigue management. 
  • KPI's Reporting with Excel 

Experience and Skills

  • Freight planning wizard who loves a challenge.
  • Highly efficient use Microsoft Office and Excel is essential.
  • Demonstrated computer skills and experience working with Transport Management Systems.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ideal knowledge of truck and trailer configurations.
  • Strong transport background or similar experience in a Scheduling and Maintenance role
  • Able to multi-task, share team responsibilities to maintain maximum monitoring level of prompt, efficient and courteous customer service.
  • Flexible approach to work to operate effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a transport environment, ideally in a logistics allocations role, with good knowledge of NSW metro and regional areas ideal.
  • Proven understanding of Fatigue Management and Chain of Responsibility.
