Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain expected case load of claims
  • Provide office and field-based assessment of domestic, rental, and commercial insurance losses from first advice to final settlement
  • Deliver professional and excellent service when completing on-site and desktop assessments, interacting with customers and clients
  • Provide support and advice to all stake holders including but not limited to policy holders, property managers and underwriters with respect to their claims.
  • Proactively communicate clear and accurate advice, solutions, timeframes and claim progress to all stakeholders
  • Examine claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions and other records to determine coverage and policy response.
  • Set loss reserves
  • Provide exceptional levels of service to clients and their customers
  • Clarify circumstances surrounding loss and causation
  • Verify the nature and extent of loss / damage
  • Quantify the work of reinstatement (material damage claims)
  • Settle claims after accepting insurer's instructions or within delegated authority
  • Comment on potential recovery action
  • Attend to recovery action as directed and/or as required
  • Identify salvage opportunities
  • Effectively instruct contractors, service/product replacement providers and other experts relative to the nature and advancement of claims
  • Comply with and maintain service level agreements and key performance indicators
  • Maintain company reputation and insurance product integrity by complying with federal and state regulations and service standards.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education.
  • Be prepared to travel and aid other offices in the event of a catastrophe, as required.
About You:
  • You will have previous experience within the insurance industry and preferably in a commercial claims environment either as a Loss Adjuster, claims manager or senior claims consultant/officer
  • You will also have general knowledge and understanding of general insurance claims, regulations and laws that affect insurance practices
  • You will be responsible for maintaining the company's reputation and integrity by complying with them.
  • You will have a people person approach and can demonstrate a caring, empathetic and positive outlook
  • You will be thorough and logical and able to make rational decisions in a fast-paced environment and be happy to go the extra mile
  • You will be able to reach deadlines, key milestones and service level agreements
  • You will have strong organisational skills
  • You will have a strong service delivery focus for clients, including insurers, customers, and brokers
  • You will have the ability to work under pressure and meet targets
  • You will have ability to work in a team and contribute to its success including team unison, objectives, goals in a collaborative manner, whilst engaging in and forming part of a positive working culture
  • You will have a desire to learn and undertake ongoing professional development with enthusiasm and a positive nature
  • You will eventually be able to actively pursue and generate new business and cross sell our other service lines
Requirements:
  • Have achieved tertiary level education in accounting, laws or similar field
  • Have acquired loss adjusting qualifications
  • Clear English, good report writing, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ideally experienced as an external Loss Adjuster, internal claims adjuster or claims consultant/officer.
  • Great customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, either within the office or remotely.
  • Computer literate and proficiency in Microsoft outlook, word and excel.
  • A current drivers licence
  • Deliver loss adjusting services that meet or exceed the service standards required by the client
  • Proactive communication with the client and customer about initial findings and potential solutions
