9 day fortnight * 72.5 hour fortnight

Come and join our creative and collaborative team leading the development of cutting edge, novel Machine Learning and AI computer vision solutions that improve how we manages and maintains Council's assets.
Within Asset Management, the Innovation Team are developing and deploying AI-based, pioneering object detection products for assessing the condition of many of Council's assets. Across the City of Moreton Bay, we have a complex and diverse range of assets including roads, footpaths, stormwater, public amenities, buildings, waste management facilities, street lighting, coastal walls and jetties etc.
As the Machine Learning Engineer, you'll be developing data analytics tools, platforms and advanced models/scenarios to achieve effective asset management outcomes, and providing technical advice on artificial intelligence, Machine Learning and computer vision techniques.
You'll also be:
- providing technical input and support into the delivery of innovation project initiatives and new technology
- contributing to a positive team environment in our high performance, continuous improvement and customer focused culture
- building strong relationships and working collaboratively with key stakeholders across the Asset Management, Asset Maintenance and Technology Services groups.
About you
Bring your artificial intelligence and Machine Learning algorithm development expertise and experience developing, validating, and implementing deep learning and computer vision models for object detection and image segmentation tasks.
You'll also bring:
- experience using deep learning frameworks and libraries: (such as Pytorch, Tensorflow) (required)
- experience with Linux OS and high-performance computers (HPC)
- familiarity with cloud services and version control software (such as git)
- Knowledge of GPU and edge devices
- High attention to detail and the ability to accurately work with large volumes of data
- Strong time management skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong people and relationship management skills with the ability to work in a positive team environment communicating and engaging effectively at all levels
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology or demonstrated relevant experience
- Current C Class Drivers Licence.
