Job description

Mackay Office Leader
Aurecon has been recognised as Australia’s most innovative services company. We want to share this innovation DNA by playing our part in the future of Mackay and are seeking expressions of interest to become our next Mackay Office Leader.
The location and background to the role…
Did you know that Mackay,

  • Is known as the Sugar Capital of Australia and plays a significant role in the country’s sugar industry.
  • Is a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the world’s most famous natural wonders
  • In addition to the Great Barrier Reef has a diverse range of tourism offerings including Eungella National Park, Bluewater Lagoon, Mackay Marina, Historical sites and Botanical Gardens to name a few
  • Has a strong connection to the mining industry, particularly coal mining. The region is a key supplier of coal to both domestic and international markets
  • Whilst having a historical connection to traditional industries like sugar and mining, it has also been involved in many biofutures and Renewable Energy initiatives
  • Has a strong pipeline of infrastructure projects that we want to be a part of
  • Is not surprisingly, at the heart of Aurecon’s blueprint for growth.
What will you do?
The Mackay office primarily supports Mackay based clients by providing technical solutions that are built on intimate knowledge of client assets. It is not a discrete profit centre but is a large contributor to the Queensland Region. In this position you will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients across all types of projects. Reporting to Queensland’s RMD or their delegate, the role will have the following expectations:
  • Lead Aurecon’s engagement with the Mackay Business community
  • Active participation and sponsorship in engaging, winning and delivering for local clients
  • Promotion and governance of our project delivery standards
  • Fostering an inclusive culture that brings all of Aurecon to our clients
  • Operations leadership for the office across Health & Safety and Wellbeing, People and Commercial functions
What can you bring to the team?
  • Experience in both client engagement and project management (preferably in the resources, energy and/or transport sectors, but this is not essential)
  • Commercial and contractual acumen. The ability to understand where to focus efforts in mitigating our risk is an important part of the role.
  • Confident to work with our Mackay teams in the local markets across Land and Water, Transport, Industrial, Environment and Planning and Defence
  • Confident communication and ability to influence
  • Collaborative team builder with a focus on diversity and inclusion
  • Comfortable with the ambiguity that comes with regional transformation
  • Comfortable with the accountability that comes with making and meeting promises with our clients
  • An ability to inspire teams through a no-blame culture
  • Professional Engineering experience, RPEQ desirable
Think you know Aurecon? You may be surprised.
Aurecon’s strength has always been our people. It’s our people who build our shared purpose and bring ideas to life. It’s our people who imagine and co-create with our clients a better future for people and the planet. Of course, you’ll probably know lots of our award-winning projects. The new Allianz Stadium in Sydney? That was us. Tāmaki Regeneration in Auckland? That was us too. And the Tseung Kwan O Interchange in Hong Kong? You guessed it, us. So, when you join us, you’ll not only be joining an international design, engineering and advisory company but also a community working together to tackle some of the world’s most complex challenges.
Aurecon have had a presence in Mackay for over 35 years and a current permanent staff of 50 across Industrial, Transport, Land and Water, AM&P and E&P which we intend to grow. We have highly valued clients, those that are in Mackay and those that are looking to enter Mackay, both of whom we want to support. The opportunities in Mackay are closely aligned to our skill base and blueprint for growth. Our future is linked to the future of Mackay.
Ready to bring ideas to life?
Then please apply. Remember, it’s you and how you bring ideas to life which are important. Your background, unique needs and individuality will be valued. Visit our website to learn more at www.aurecongroup.com
