About the opportunity
Mapei has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Fitter to join their team based in Wacol.
Reporting to the Production & Maintenance Manager, you'll carry out all maintenance duties relating to the safe and efficient operation of the plant, and associated facilities.
About the role
- Performing delegated planned and predictive maintenance;
- Analysing and diagnosing system/machine issues;
- Carrying out assigned maintenance repairs;
- Completing associated maintenance administration; and
- Plan and execute special projects and improvements.
- Production assistance as required, with plant operation and raw material handling to be done as per the relevant Work Instructions
- Liaise with other departments where necessary to perform tasks safely and successfully.
- May be a requirement to work after hours, typically Saturdays, Public holidays and some hours either before, or after regular shift start and finish.
About you:
- Related training or training qualifications in metal trades, fitting, machining or engineering related discipline and/or
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a maintenance within a manufacturing environment, preferably with FMCG type machinery
- Team leader or supervisory experience highly regarded
- Familiarity with industrial environments and the ability to safely operate plant and equipment including electrical, and pneumatically controlled machinery
- Ability to analyse and diagnose system/machine issues
- Experience with PLC controlled machines
- Experience with safe maintenance principles and practices
- Demonstrate ability in carrying out basic mechanical repairs i.e., drilling and tapping, mechanical alignment, oxy and acetylene operation, and parts replacement
Language and other skills
- Must be self-motivated, reliable, dedicated and work independently.
- Must possess basic organisational skills.
- Attention to detail and an awareness of the importance of consistency and accuracy in a manufacturing and maintenance environment
- Ability to learn new skills
- Ability to communicate in a mature and cooperative manner
- Literary and numeric skills to complete maintenance documentation
- Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions
- Ability to think quickly and logically
- Physical capacity to undertake manual handling
- Safety conscious and follow all safety procedures of the role
