About Our Role
An exciting full-time, permanent opportunity exists for a suitably experienced and qualified Maintenance Fitter/Machinist to join our high-performing maintenance team at Simplot Bathurst. Simplot Bathurst is referred to as “The Home of Edgell”, being the original birthplace of the well-loved Australian brand.
An investment of $90 million is currently being made at the site. This investment will transform the site into a frozen vegetable centre of excellence, enable increased production capacity, and ultimately help boost local and export volumes.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will provide fitting (mechanical) services to our large scale production operations
With base rates ranging from $40.71 - $42.56 p/h (dependent on certifications & experience) + site allowances + penalties & overtime opportunities (where applicable), this is a great opportunity for those suitably certified tradespeople looking to demonstrate their competency in the fitting / mechanical field.

What You Will Do
- Take part in safety initiatives to achieve a 100% commitment to safety, health and wellbeing in the workplace
- Use of lathes and other machining equipment to manufacture components prior to assembly / fitting
- Welding (TIG, MIG, MMA)
- Sheet metal fabrication
- Preventative, predictive, breakdown and corrective maintenance activities
- Work within workshop environments and on the production floor
- The opportunity to work on a wide variety of fixed plant and equipment incl;
- Conveyors
- High speed packing equipment
- Freezer tunnels
- Pumps
- Gearboxes
- Pneumatics
- Work in conjunction with other on-site trades (electricians + contractors). - Use of MEX (CMMS) and other windows based systems
About You
- Possess a 100% commitment to safety in the workplace
- Hold a current Cert III Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience with preventative, predictive, breakdown and corrective maintenance activities (incl. fault finding and troubleshooting)
- Experience in safety & quality systems and procedures
- Pneumatics and hydraulics experience will be advantageous
- Experience within an FMCG industry plant will be highly regarded (but not essential)
- Sound judgment and decision making ability
- Possess a high level of both written and verbal communication skills in addition to time management skills
- Ability to work proactively whilst unsupervised whilst also being able to work within a team environment
- Be an intermediate user of Windows and associated suite of Microsoft products
