My client is an owner-operator with multiple mining operations in QLD. They play a crucial role in supporting local communities, offering employment opportunities and contributing to regional economic growth. The asset of key focus to the Maintenance Manager position is a profitable, well-structured, longwall coal mining operation.
The Opportunity
The Maintenance Manager will have 6 direct reports (Superintendents) across development, longwall and outbye maintenance. This includes the management across reliability, planning and execution maintenance. The maintenance division itself has ~250 personnel. It is a combination of full-time/permanent staff and contractors. The Maintenance Manager reports into the Site General Manager.
This position is a 5/2/4/3 (9-day fortnight) roster, with work from home options available at the back end of the week. FIFO Brisbane, DIDO or Residential options are available (with housing, accommodation, flights, travel, car, etc as accessories to the package on offer).
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the maintenance team, providing leadership, guidance, and support,
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies to optimize equipment reliability and productivity,
- Plan and schedule maintenance activities, coordinating with necessary departments,
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices, promoting a culture of safety,
- Manage the maintenance budget, monitoring all spendings and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- An engineering degree and/or trade is essential,
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Maintenance Manager in underground coal mining,
- SSE or step-up GM experience would be held in high regard,
- A diplomatic, collaborative and enabling management style,
- Must live/work/reside in QLD/AU. Must have full working AU rights.
