Metal Biz is a successful metal recycling company with operations in the greater Brisbane area. As a privately owned organization, we are one of only four metal shredding facilities in Brisbane, equipped with state-of-the-art non-ferrous sorting machines, static and mobile shears, material handling machines, and various mobile plant equipment. We specialize in recovering ferrous and non-ferrous metals from scrap metal generated by building, construction, demolition, industrial, household, and other scrap sources. Additionally, we provide metal for foundries both locally and internationally.
About the Role:
Due to our continuous growth and development, we are excited to announce a newly created position for a Maintenance Manager to join our team at our Rocklea location. This role involves hands-on oversight of a small team responsible for performing preventative and ongoing maintenance on fixed and mobile plant equipment, conveyor systems, and sorting machinery from Monday to Saturday. We are looking for a candidate with heavy industry experience or a similar background who can lead our team to new heights.
Responsibilities:
While this role involves a significant amount of hands-on work, your responsibilities also include:
- Collaborating with leaders and key stakeholders to develop and implement detailed predictive and preventative maintenance strategies and plans.
- Ensuring that all maintenance projects, tasks, and activities are completed in a timely, high-quality, and cost-efficient manner.
- Improving plant reliability and reducing the risk and impact of equipment failures.
- Contributing to the reduction of production costs over time by extending the life and viability of assets.
What you will need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Trade qualifications with a background in heavy industry, fixed plant, or quarrying/mining (preferred).
- A current Queensland Driver's License.
- Experience in a similar role.
- A successful track record of workshop supervision with proven leadership and coaching skills.
- Excellent communication abilities with strong interpersonal skills.
- Good computer literacy, including experience using maintenance planning systems (highly regarded).
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform field and workshop maintenance on various types of equipment.
- Influence and drive a collaborative, innovative, and safe working culture.
- Ensure the preventative and ongoing maintenance of all plant and equipment.
- Maintain records and provide regular reports to senior management.
- Manage the productivity and performance of a small maintenance team.
