The Position
The Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring the buildings and infrastructure are well maintained, so that functional and inviting spaces continue to be provided for students, staff and visitors to the School.
Tasks may include (but are not limited to)—
- Minor painting, plumbing, tiling, welding, plastering, block work and other minor repairs as required.
- Checks of security gates/fences and conduct minor repairs as required.
- Classroom comfort features - picture hanging, decoration installation, assist with opening operable walls etc.
- Preparation of rooms for refurbishment - minor demolition - clearing of furniture, whiteboards/pin-boards, desks, chairs etc.
- Check and update Salto Access System.
- Proactively identifying areas requiring repair or maintenance and prioritise and schedule accordingly.
- Assist with Boarding house maintenance requests (such as mattress replacement, construction of flat pack furniture and minor construction projects as directed).
- Assist in the ordering/purchasing and stock control of hardware and other items required in the day-to-day maintenance of the school as required.
- Move furniture/equipment as required, including for events and exams.
- Assist with parcel/package and equipment deliveries and pick-ups around the school.
- Assist with off-site deliveries and pick-ups as directed.
- Assist with maintenance and cleaning of the sports facilities including the tennis courts and swimming pool as directed.
- Assist with internal refurbishments and external hard landscaping projects (e.g. retaining walls, decking, screening and paving) as requested.
- Organise/supervise and liaise with various trades as directed by Facilities Manager.
- Other reasonable duties from time to time as directed by the Facilities Manager, including cleaning tasks.
They will also be available to assist teachers and other staff as required and maintain general tidiness in the classrooms, grounds etc.
