A team who values real diversity and inclusion, in a big brand with big ambitions.What you'll be doing…As a Maintenance Watch Engineer you will provide effective day-to-day management and notification of engineering operational issues that relate to aircraft dispatch. This includes AOG recovery; front line maintenance support, defect deferral and rectification; technical advice to Flight Crews/ AMO's, and notification of aircraft limitations and maintenance significant events to Network Operations and the CAMO.This position is based at our Head Office in Brisbane (Southbank).As a Maintenance Watch Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Coordinate recovery of AOG aircraft
- Maintain compliance with Virgin Australia's Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition
- Capture defects with an operational limitation or maintenance restriction, complete a technical review and ensure all relevant details are entered into TRAX for rectification
- Monitor and Identify defects, rectification cycles and ensure action plans are in place
- Provide formal notification to relevant departments of all AOG aircraft and defects with an operational limitation or maintenance restriction
- Co-ordinate with Approved Maintenance Organisations for arriving aircraft that have ad-hoc or additional maintenance requiremen\ts
- Ensure that critical messages received from aircraft and operating crews are technically assessed and actioned. Provide technical information and support to flight crew requests, both in-flight and on the ground
- Provide technical aircraft systems trouble-shooting advice to AMO's
- Coordinate and raise requests with Manufacturers, Part 21 Approved Organisations, Approved Persons and CASA for Permissible Unserviceability (PU), MEL Extension, Special Flight Permit (SFP) and Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA's).
- Provide input and undertake projects to review and improve department processes and procedures and continually improve interaction with stakeholders
- Hold or have held, an aircraft engineer license in category B1, B2 or equivalent with type ratings and / or credits on current Virgin Australia aircraft types or aircraft of similar complexity
- Extensive experience in aircraft maintenance in an operational and/or Maintenance Watch role
- Comprehensive knowledge of the aircraft's structure and systems, including the propulsion system of the aircraft/engine types operated by the airline or of similar aircraft type and complexity
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of CASR Part 42 continuing Airworthiness regulations and standards
- General knowledge of the role and functions of Operational Control Centre (OCC) departments and sections
