The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron is located on beautiful Manly Harbour, overlooking Moreton Bay and we are looking for a full-time Maintenance/Grounds Person, reporting to the Marina & Facilities Manager and working closely with other grounds & maintenance team members.
This is a Monday-Friday role but the successful candidate will need to be flexible if needed for emergencies on weekends and public holidays. The Maintenance person will be responsible for the timely completion of all preventative maintenance duties across the land-based facilities including the Clubhouse, Office Administration, bar, restaurant and general club operations.
In this role, your key responsibilities (not limited to):
- Assist in developing and implementing maintenance schedules and ensure tasks are completed in a safe, efficient and effective manner.
- Work with the Grounds team to ensure the lawns, gardens and irrigation systems are well maintained.
- Coordination of external contract tradespersons to carry out work or obtain quotes
- Undertake general maintenance and gardening duties as required
- Identify and make recommendations on repairs and maintenance of fixed and mobile assets and structures
This role will be ideally suited to someone who has experience in general building and facility maintenance as well as having strong and encouraging team-work qualities. As we are a large member-based organisation, your focus on member engagement, personable communication skills and desire to make a difference, will be a great asset in this role. Attention to detail will be one of your key strengths and you will be competent in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel or have the desire to learn new systems, such as data entry Asset Management.
Preferred Skills, knowledge and background:
- Experience in a similar role in operational aspects of facilities maintenance services
- Basic knowledge on scheduling and operating an efficient maintenance program
- A trade skill in either carpentry or general maintenance would be an advantage
- Be well presented, take pride in a job well done and have good time management
- Ability to prepare reports and recommendations suitable for committee reviews; produce spreadsheets if needed
- Attention to detail and works well with others
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, basic regulations and codes of practice
- Experience in managing property teams highly desirable;
- Current Driver’s Licence;
- Reliable, in good health with strong work ethic;
- Some understanding of boating or marina operations would also be an advantage, but not essential
