Job Description: We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Maintenance and Scheduling Supervisor to join our team. We are searching for a qualified mechanic to fill the role in this newly created position. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing routine staff rosters, coordinating driver replacements, managing external bookings, and maintaining vehicles and depots in our Western Region.
This position requires the successful applicant to divide their time between office operations and being a hands-on mechanic for a fleet of around 27 vehicles spread across several locations with a bulk of the applicant's time being spent in Stawell.
Key Responsibilities for Scheduling and Operations Management:
- Monitor routine staff rosters and find replacement drivers for periods of permanent driver absences
- Communicate with drivers regarding additional bookings and commitments
- Quote on external movements for school buses
- Obtain and maintain accreditation to drive commercial vehicles in VIC for relief driving
- Carry out completion of school bus services when required
- Maintain sound knowledge of all school runs in the area under supervision
- Assist in backing up the Northern Region Operations Manager during leave periods
- Liaise with schools, bus coordinators, and PTV area managers
- Conduct staff inductions and attend disciplinary meetings with HR
- Obtain and maintain accreditation in Drug and Alcohol testing
Key Responsibilities for Scheduling and Operations Management:
- Hold qualifications in mechanics, heavy diesel preferred but not essential
- Ensure all maintenance on vehicles is scheduled and completed by deadlines to comply with safety standards and regulations
- Carry out maintenance on fleet vehicles in accordance with manufacturer and state standards
- Communicate and take direction on maintenance from the company's Fleet Maintenance Manager
- Maintain awareness of the location of all buses, including time spent in external workshops
- Liaise with external workshops to ensure the timely return of vehicles
- Uphold OH&S standards in all depots under your supervision
Requirements:
- Qualifications in mechanics, heavy diesel preferred but not essential
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the transportation industry but not essential
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Strong knowledge of OH&S standards and regulations or willingness to learn
- Willingness to obtain an Accreditation in Drug and Alcohol testing with help from BusBiz
- Valid driver's license, minimum MR preferred or willingness to obtain
- Willingness to obtain a Victorian Drivers Certificate with help from BusBiz
- This position involves travelling around the Western Region of our Victorian Operations. The applicant will spend the majority of their time in Stawell.
- Successful applicant must reside in the Stawell region to work out of the Stawell depot.
