Hotel Rottnest and Samphire Rottnest, located on the premiere tourist destination Rottnest Island, is well known for offering a unique experience with amazing views over Thomson Bay. We are entering a new and exciting era and are looking forward to building our team in support of this.
Samphire Rottnest will offer 80 suites, pools, Food and Beverage options and multiple indoor/ outdoor function facilities.
We have an exciting opportunity for a maintenance assistant/handyman. You will be enthusiastic, motivated, and able to work well in a very fast paced environment. Having worked in a similar role within the hospitality industry, you will be a team player with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
The Role:
- Communicate effectively with staff and guests to provide them with information and assistance as required.
- Ability to work under pressure situations and exercise good judgements.
- Ability to focus attention on details, speed, and accuracy.
- Perform maintenance activities in hotel public areas and guest rooms like plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, plumbing and electrical equipment and cosmetic items.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Property Manager.
- Work unsupervised around the venue, showing initiative.
- Assisting in event logistics where required.
- Receive and forward all goods and deliveries in and out of the hotel to the correct point of contact/storage area.
- Able to follow standards for issuingand receiving stock within the store's area of operation.
- Monitor and take inventory on regular basis to compile orders.
- Assist in monthly stock takes within the business
- Responsible for ordering with departments and ensuring purchase orders are completed.
- Maintain clear and organised records to ensure all reports and invoices are filed and stored properly.
- Responsible for storage of both food & beverage and operational stock.
- Responsible for stock handling and distribution within the property.
- Responsible for the day-to-day check on the storage facilities for upkeep and hygiene.
- Responsible to verify all goods arrived as per the agreed purchase, delivery note and agreed quantity has been received.
- Responsible for the operation of a Forklift on a daily basis.
- Refuse acceptance of damaged, unacceptable, or incorrect items.
- Ensure cleanliness of all areas, keeping storage areas clean & tidy and in strict compliance with hygiene regulations.
- Adhere to all Health andSafety procedures particularly relating to food and beverage items.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety produces in relation to operating a Forklift.
- Ensuring and complying with manual handling processes, referring to the lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects by hand or by bodily force.
- Ensuring that lift and carry items correctly, using the correct posture and technique.
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Identifying and reporting any hazards or risks associated with manual handling tasks to management.
- Participate in training and education programs provided by the property.
- Assist in recyclable waste processing across the properties.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
- Keep accurate recordings of all incoming and outgoing goods.
- Energetic, fit, and active worker.
- Must possess a healthy work attitude and the ability to engage with other staff in a positive team environment.
