Major Events and Projects Officer – Programming

  • Permanent full-time
  • Salary commencing at $94,996 annum plus 11% superannuation (commensurate with experience)
  • Support the capacity of the community and the organisation to plan and deliver events.

The Opportunity 

A fantastic new opportunity to work with a passionate and fast-paced team to plan, coordinate and deliver designated key Council festivals and events with a specific focus on programming. You will work closely with the Head of Festivals and Events in addition to contractors to develop artistic community-focussed programming to ensure the department’s key festivals and events meet objectives whilst also providing opportunity for community engagement and participation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of suitable programming that aligns with the strategic outcomes for Council’s major festivals and events.
  • Develop innovative opportunities for diverse areas of the community to participate in events.
  • Using specialised skills and knowledge, provide advice and guidance on festival and event programming across Council, particularly with the Arts, Culture and Place department. 
  • Maintain up to date administrative records using Council’s administration and management information systems and tools.
  • Be accountable for the day-to-day management of program and events budgets in alignment with Councils budget and purchasing procedures.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Event Management, Arts Management, or a related discipline or lesser formal qualifications with work skills and relevant experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience in the planning, promotion and delivery of Events and arts and cultural programs within a local government environment.
  • Excellent liaison skills and build strong relationships with the community and internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Excellent time management, planning and organisation skills including the ability to set realistic priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess levels of risk in relation to undertaking Events and demonstrated experience in managing risk processes and formulating risk management plans.

  1. Degree in Event Management, Arts Management, or a related discipline or lesser formal qualifications with work skills and relevant experience. 
  2. Capacity to develop and deliver both artistic and community programming that engages the community and aligns with Council strategy.
  3. Strong organisational skills to manage logistics, deadlines and budgets effectively ensuring the smooth execution of the festival program.
  4. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with contractors, agencies, artists, performers, and community groups, to secure compelling content for festivals.
  5. Demonstrated experience in formulating and monitoring budgets. 
  6. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team to gain cooperation and resolve problems.
