AddressThe Cougar Mining Group Finance team is a shared services team for a diverse group of entities within the Mining Industry based in New South Wales and Queensland. This impressive finance and support team of 30 are responsible for supporting a growing workforce of 500+ employees.
Starting as a small contracting hire business in 2000, they have grown into a full-service provider to the underground mining industry nationwide, including operating an extensive range of underground coal, run-of-mine, and long wall relocation equipment. Commencing in 2018, Cougar began manufacturing, servicing, and maintaining customer underground mining machinery and supplier of spares to its customer base.

Your new role…
- Responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely management accounts and supporting reports
- Review and analyse monthly management account variances against budgets.
- Reconcile intercompany loans and transactions
- Being the first point of contact for queries from the accounts team
- Assisting in preparing monthly reporting to Directors
- Month-end accounting and reporting including posting journals, balance sheet and P&L reconciliation
- Monthly variance analysis and producing commentary for management
- Assist with external Audit and preparation of end-of-year accounts
- Daily ERP transactional imports and reconciliations
About you …
- Must be able to manipulate data and have experience within a complex, high-volume environment, along with EXCEPTIONAL Excel skills
- You will have excellent analytical capabilities and be a confident communicator who can engage with and influence non-financial stakeholders
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting, commerce (CA or CPA), or working towards
- You bring the initiative to fix any issues that arise
