What to expect in this role
Working as a core member of the asset team, you will contribute to asset reporting and capital management by preparing monthly Asset Accounting reports, and assisting with the coordination of the external budget process.
Here are some of the duties you will perform:
Asset Reporting and Capital Management
- Prepare monthly Asset Accounting reports for internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner
- From a capital budget perspective, assist with the coordination of and external budget process (including operational, capital, departmental and administered) and Asset Management
- Analyse, interpret and evaluate financial and non-financial matters including providing advice to stakeholders
- Review and process forms to create, modify and/or dispose assets records in the FMIS
- Progress activities required for financial reporting processes such as asset stocktake
- Manage asset revaluation processes as required
- Provide a high level of service and technical accounting advice to stakeholders in remote locations and across the organisation
- Respond to ANAO and other audit queries as required
What makes you a great fit?
- 5–10 years experience in Asset Accounting, leading Financial Asset Management
- Experience with government budgetary and financial frameworks. With the ability to advise on the Commonwealth financial management framework within the guidelines of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and other complex legislation. Some experience with the government charging framework and cost recovery matters is highly desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of financial policies and processes, to identify emerging issues, analyse risks and recommend appropriate management controls or mitigation strategies.
- Experience in developing and presenting written material of a financial and business nature. Discussing issues credibly and thoughtfully, ensuring that the message is clear and targeted at the intended audience.
- Experience with Excel and SAP.
- Experience in identifying user requirements to assist in the Agency’s development of future TechnologyOne and Aurion instances.
- Preferred: Chartered Accountant/Certified Practicing Accountant
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with team members
