How will I help?
The 2nd Line Assurance team is part of the Chief Operating Office in Risk Division and is accountable for delivering the annual coordinated assurance plan approved by Divisional Risk and Compliance Committees.
The Manager, Assurance role sits within the Business, Wealth and Group Functions (B&W and GF) Assurance team. In this role, you will be part of a team of assurance risk professionals who will execute independent reviews that evaluations that will assist B&W and GF Management in exercising its responsibility to develop, maintain, monitor and continuously enhance control frameworks and systems.
You will be responsible for the delivery of thematic and deep dive Assurance reviews that comply with the 2nd Line Assurance Standards relating to Westpac’s Business, Wealth and Group Function Divisions.
As a Manager in the 2nd Line Assurance team, you will work with stakeholders across all Westpac Divisions, which includes Business Partners, 1st Line Risk Teams, Group Audit, and other 2nd Line Risk Teams.
Key accountabilities:
- Delivery of thematic and deep dive Assurance reviews that comply with the requirements of the 2nd Line Assurance Standard. This includes the assessment of key controls for design and operating effectiveness to ensure that key risks and obligations are appropriately managed.
- Collaborate with peers to collectively promote a high-performance culture and behaviours within the business unit that reinforce collaboration, encourages accountability and continuous improvement over Assurance methodology.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships. Influence enterprise leaders to embed risk monitoring and implement effective control practices.

What do I need?
You’ll have over 4 years of experience in risk management within the banking or financial services sector. Alongside your skills in influencing, data analysis, reporting and relationship building, you should be proactive, organised, outcomes-driven and possess a strong customer focus. Bringing your experience in with technology audit/assurance, and proficiency with data analytics will set you apart for this role.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate.
- Strong problem solving and time management skills.
- Work as a team with minimal supervision and positive can-do attitude who will hit the ground running.
- Ability to develop and maintaining strong working relationships.
- Adaptable and able to operate effectively in a changing environment and take on new initiatives.
