The newly established Business Intelligence, Planning and Improvement department aims to improve delivery, coordination and alignment of services across the organisation. We provide a ‘one stop shop’ for enterprise-wide analysis, reporting, improvement and decision support, as well as program planning, delivery, change and governance through a collaborative and localised partnership model.

We are now looking for a strong leader to establish, manage and evolve the Business Improvement team within the department. You’ll be responsible for establishing the function from scratch, including introducing frameworks, tools, methodology and recruiting for a new team Business Improvement Specialists.  

You’ll be part of a highly skilled, committed and collaborative management team that together provide crucial and highly valued services to the rest of the organisation.

What you’ll do:

  • Managing and guiding day to day work of a team of Business Improvement Specialists and Project Coordinators, including mentoring and coaching along professional development goals.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the other managers in the department to establish, improve and implement processes, tools and frameworks for successful delivery and management.
  • Management, leadership and delivery of Business Improvement services and solutions across the organisation, bringing significant expertise in methodologies and practical implementation for improving business outcomes and service delivery.
  • Assist the business with all improvement needs, from ‘break fix’ solutions such as correcting immediate operational performance deficiencies, to driving a strategic Business Improvement agenda.
  • A drive to continuously improve critical internal processes whilst eliminating waste and inefficiencies.
  • Successfully manage an ongoing Business Improvement agenda whilst planning for long-term forward looking design and service delivery improvement.
  • Working across all of St John WA’s departments, liaising and providing collaborative consultancy to key stakeholders at all levels.
  • Providing subject matter expertise and strategic advice on best practice Business Improvement, improving organisation wide capability and maturity.
  • Representing the department on organisation-wide working groups and forums, presenting and owning deliverables on behalf of the department.

What you’ll need:

  •  Have a strong background in Business Improvement including current frameworks and methodologies, with experience managing organisation-wide transformation programs.
  • Significant demonstrated Business Improvement leadership, management and delivery, including proven ability to establish, lead and manage a small team.
  • Ability to adapt and implement Business Improvement frameworks, templates and processes.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills, including proven ability to analyse and understand complex information, business processes and concepts and make decisions based on sound judgments and available relevant research.
  • Proven experience establishing productive and strong working relationships with excellent stakeholder management skills.

The required qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or proven, demonstrated relevant experience in forming and managing teams within a Business Improvement environment.
  • Relevant Business Improvement certification in a methodology such as Lean/Six Sigma
