Manager, Structural / Civil - WA/Africa

Our team is growing, we are currently recruiting for a highly technically skilled and experienced Structural Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will oversee all structural and civil engineering activities for studies & projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and safety regulations.

About the Role

  • Lead and manage the structural and civil engineering team, providing guidance, mentoring, and support to achieve project objectives.
  • While the candidate will manage both Structural and Civil design, Ausenco's projects are heavily balanced to structural engineering design for both steel and concrete structures and therefore, a strong structural technical background is essential.
  • Develop detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for mining infrastructure, including process plant foundations, structures, NPI buildings.
  • An understanding of the interface between structural foundation requirements and other areas of civil design such as retaining wall structures, roads, and drainage systems is desirable, with a focus on managing a technical team.
  • Provide additional engineering input and collaboration with downstream project phases such as procurement, construction, and optimization.
  • Be responsible for technical approval and sign-off of the project's structural and civil engineering and design.
  • Collaborate with the Discipline Engineering Managers (Mechanical and Electrical and Instrumentation) to ensure positive project outcomes from a technical and schedule perspective.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure integration of structural and civil elements into overall project plans.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments to identify potential challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to obtain necessary approvals and permits.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocations for civil and structural engineering tasks.
  • Implement best practices, industry standards, and innovative technologies to optimize project outcomes and minimize environmental impact.

About You

  • Minimum 15 years in a structural design technical role, with significant experience in analysis of large and complex mineral processing plant foundations and structures consisting of both dynamic and static loadings.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex engineering projects from conception to completion.
  • Bachelor's degree in structural engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer of the Australian Institute of Engineers is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in structural and civil engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the engineering/mining & minerals industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant structural codes, standards, and regulations governing structural design for mining projects.
  • Proficiency in engineering software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
