Manager, Critical Infrastructure and Recovery

  • Salary: $130,673 - $174,869 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term role: Until 21 March 2025
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)

People with disability are strongly encouraged to apply and will be given priority consideration for this role.The RoleThe Manager, Critical Infrastructure and Recovery is responsible for the management and implementation of emergency management resilience and Recovery programs and initiatives; coordination and development of the broader department's responsibilities for economic recovery within the State's emergency management framework; and development of economic recovery initiatives in regional Victoria in response to specific emergencies.The responsibilities of the Manager will include, but are not limited to:
  • Leading and managing a small team that delivers work programs in relation to a range of economic recovery and Critical Infrastructure policy issues.
  • Leading the implementation of the Victorian Critical Infrastructure Resilience Strategy for the food and grocery sector, including development of annual Sector Resilience Plans (working closely with relevant areas of the department).
  • Leading the Department's food and grocery emergency function, including undertaking preparedness activities and liaising with major supermarkets and other stakeholders during significant disruptive events.
The TeamThe position of Manager, Critical Infrastructure and Recovery forms a part of the Emergency Management and Outdoor Recreation branch within the Regional Development and Outdoor Recreation group.The Regional Development and Outdoor Recreation group supports the delivery of the Regional Development and Outdoor Recreation portfolios, and the department's emergency management responsibilities. The Emergency Management and Outdoor Recreation Branch coordinates the departments emergency management responsibilities and the delivery of hunting, fishing and boating policy and strategy.About YouThe successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
  • Influence, Negotiation and Stakeholder Management: Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build buy in and support from key internal clients and external stakeholders; identifies issues in common with stakeholders to build mutually beneficial partnerships and find innovative solutions to resolve issues.
  • People Management: Aligns team with the organisational values and goals through effective people management and modelling; maximises effectiveness by selecting, developing, managing and motivating a high performing team, clearly defines role expectations, monitors performance, provides timely and constructive feedback and facilitates employee development; ensures staff are effectively deployed through effective workforce planning practices.
  • Written and Verbal Communication: Confidently conveys ideas and information; Prepares complex briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; Clearly understands the target audience and the objectives of both written and verbal communication; Handles difficult and sensitive communication well.
  • A relevant tertiary degree would be well regarded.
