About the Digital Content & Innovation Team
We are a newly formed team of about 70 people spread in locations around Australia. We're focussed on making great Digital Content for ABC audiences and supporting Screen and Audio teams with digital strategy and implementation. The team includes the ABC listen team, Impact, Innovation Lab, as well as reporters, producers and social media experts from ABC iview, ABC KIDS, RN, Double J, ABC Classic & Jazz, ABC Everyday and Arts.
About the Role
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced editorial and digital senior leader to join the Digital Content and Innovation team, implementing a holistic approach to Digital Content commissioning and creation with a particular focus on music, arts, entertainment, specialist and culture. This role will see you lead a team of editors and content makers to produce quality social and web content across a range of verticals and formats with the aim of driving reach across ABC owned and third-party platforms. Reporting to the Head Digital Content & Innovation you will also;
  • Lead Editors in daily publishing as well as Digital Content workflow design and innovating in content formats for distribution on multiple platforms to maximise impact.
  • Develop a data-driven approach to digital commissioning, identifying new and creative strategic opportunities for growth and through understanding audience behaviour and preferences.
  • Prioritise new ABC audiences, including people from diverse cultural, Indigenous, gender, ability, outer-suburban and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Work collaboratively with key internal editorial and digital leaders, as well as external partners as required.
About You
You're an experienced leader with a proven track record in motivating and driving large, multi-disciplinary creative teams, developing talent and a high-performance culture. Your skills and experience will also include:
  • A demonstrated track record of leading and delivering successful Digital Content to broad audiences with superior editorial judgement and experience across two or more formats.
  • Excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to deliver a clear vision and plan.
  • A highly developed understanding of the digital media industries, and of the strategic positioning of the ABC within the Australian media environment.
