The role
Reporting to the Senior Director, Health and Safety; the Manager, Electrical Safety oversees the development, implementation and maintenance of the Electrical Safety systems and assurance requirements across Queensland Health.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of an Electrical Safety system across Queensland Health that complies with and promotes the requirements of the relevant Electrical Safety and work health and safety legislation,
- Industry Codes of Practice relating to electrical work and Queensland Health's Electrical Contractor Licence.
- Develop and implement governance structures to support planning, implementation, monitoring and review activities for Electrical Safety systems across Queensland Health.
- Develop and implement an assurance process to audit, monitor and report on compliance with the Electrical Safety systems across Queensland Health.
- Develop and implement a procedure for monitoring, reviewing and escalating Electrical Safety incidents, breaches, risks and/or concerns and complaints.
- Ensure information relating to legislation, industry codes of practice, Australian Standards, documented work methods, and Material Safety Data Sheets is updated, controlled and communicated to stakeholders.
- Provide expert advice on the Electrical Safety systems, legislative requirements and compliance to standards of practice relating to Electrical Safety.
You will have demonstrated:
- Demonstrated expertise, knowledge and experience with legislation, standards and practices relating to electrical work and Electrical Safety including, but not limited to:
- the Electrical Safety Act 2002, Electrical Safety Regulations 2013 and the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2011
- AS/NZ3000 (The Wiring Rules), AS/NZS3003 (Patient Areas) and other Australian Electrical standards
- applicable Electrical Codes of Practice and relevant industry codes of practice.
- Demonstrated analytical and research skills to lead the systematic review and implementation of Electrical Safety processes and systems and ability to identify opportunities to continuous improvement Electrical Safety and compliance.
- High level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively to build rapport and establish strong and mutually beneficial connections.
- Demonstrated experience in leading established project management methodologies to deliver work of a high quality, validity and accuracy in a timely way
- Supports productive working relationships by building and sustaining positive relationships with team members, stakeholders and clients. Works collaboratively and operates as an effective team member. Treats people with respect and courtesy.
- Whilst not mandatory, having completed, or ability to rapidly complete, the competencies required for the electrical contractor licence would be highly regarded, including
- Qualified Technical Person; and
- Qualified Business Person.
