As a Policy Manager, you will coordinate the delivery and implementation of a designated component of what is a far-reaching and innovative policy program. Your area of managerial focus may be legislative reform, driving policy into operational practice or tackling national and emergent policy problems. While some of your work will continue to be hands-on policy work, the bulk of your role will be in providing strategic direction and management to the project teams, as well as providing support and advice on critical matters to the Director. You will be exposed to excellent networking opportunities and will support projects which genuinely contribute to social good.
Your Key responsibilities will be:
- plan, manage and lead the implementation of a designated portion of OIR's policy and legislation program
- provide high-level strategic advice to the Director, senior departmental officers and the Minister
- oversee and lead a team and/or inter-divisional working parties
- employ exemplary project governance including robust planning, scheduling, risk management and reporting of milestones to key stakeholders
- facilitate negotiation and consultation with internal and external stakeholders
- represent and/or coordinate the Office of Industrial Relations' representation at forums, committees and councils
- monitor national and international trends in work health and safety and Electrical Safety Policy and legislation and undertake research into current and emerging issues
- working with the Director, oversee the performance and professional development of a number of direct reports
- actively participate in the promotion of a discrimination free workplace culture that values equity and diversity
- ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of the team over which you have responsibility.
