ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent position DIDO to our Worsley Aluminum Refinery, which is located a short drive from the community of Collie (20 minutes), Bunbury (45 minutes), and Pinjara (1 hour).

As the Manager External Affairs Worsley Alumina, you will be responsible for playing an important role in the Worsley Alumina's leadership team, leading the External Affairs function at Worsley Alumina to inform, motivate and engage the workforce in pursuit of strategic objectives. This role protects and enhances South32's reputation, maintain social licence to operate and builds strong and mutually beneficial relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

Leadership Accountabilities

• Lead and facilitate interactions / communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders - clearly articulate purpose and adjust communication style to suit the audience to maximise impact and influence.
• Deliver the Business Plan through creating a culture of care and accountability as an enabler to continuously learn and improve.
• Manage a team of External Affairs professionals.
Individual Accountabilities
• Overarching responsibility for South32's reputation in the region including protecting and growing Worsley Alumina's license to operate.
• Overarching accountability for Worsley Alumina's Social Performance and Communications strategies.
• Lead the implementation of Worsley Alumina's Social Performance strategy inclusive of stakeholder engagement, social investment, government engagement and liaison with relevant community groups and organisations.
• Represent the operation at key external forums and events.
• Lead the provision of External Affairs support to key regulatory approvals processes.
• Identify and manage reputational and material risks in line with the South32 Risk Management Framework.
• Implement and comply with relevant safety critical risk controls as relevant to work activities.
• Demonstrate adherence to behaviours that are consistent with South32's Values; South32 Code of Business Conduct, IMC Life Saving Rules and Worsley Alumina's Behavioural Expectations.


ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Strong knowledge of and hands-on experience in developing External Affairs plans and strategies.
• Experience that encompasses communications, social investment and stakeholder engagement.
• Demonstrate ability to develop effective working relationships across multiple levels of an organisation and with external stakeholders.
• Resources industry experience is mandatory.

Qualifications for this position are:

• Minimum: Relevant tertiary qualification
• (5-10) years leadership experience in relevant field in the resources industry
• Complex stakeholder engagement experience
