The opportunity
Stepping into this role, you will lead the operations of the corporate governance and legal service business unit to deliver the Operational Plan and Delivery Program that contribute to the strategic direction of Council.
Known for our innovative thinking and active involvement in the community, our team seeks a dynamic professional with exceptional leadership skills in communication, creativity, and fostering collaborative environments to ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes.
Reporting into the Director Finance and Administration, you will be hands on as you:
- Develop, implement and manage corporate governance including policy developement and review
- Manage Council's corporate electronic document management system records management frameworks
- Manage all applications for access to information through Government Information (Public Access) Act legislation and undertake the role as Council's Public Officer
- Manage Council's insurance portfolio
- Develop, implement and manage council procurement policies, procedures and contract management activities
- Manage, support, develop and guide the work and performance of staff reporting directly to this role and through them, the staff of the business unit
- Model and reinforce an agile, solutions-focused, accountable and collaborative culture that facilitates workforce engagement and performance
What's needed
Your degree in Business Management, Governance, Law or equivalent tertiary qualification, along with your extensive hands-on experience in corporate governance and legal services will see you navigate through our various legislative requirements with ease. However, this role requires more than just qualifications!
We're looking for someone with a proven track record in effectively engaging and influencing both internal and external stakeholders to drive strategic goals forward. Alongside that, your knack for communication, negotiation, and analysing information will be crucial in guiding our planning, decision-making, and ongoing improvement efforts.
