Mine Accountant
Group 6 Metals – ATPL is looking for an experienced Mine Accountant to join the onsite team at the Dolphin Tungsten Mine. This is a full time, on-site role and a great opportunity for a suitably experienced person to have a “Sea Change” on a residential roster (preferred) OR Fly-In Fly-Out from Tasmania or Victoria.

The role
The key objective of the Mine Accountant is to provide financial services, support and advice for the Dolphin Tungsten Mine.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Cost Control and Budgeting:
- Analyse financial data to identify trends and variances and provide insights to management
- Monitor costs with operating departments to optimise operational efficiency
- Collaborate with operational teams to develop and manage budgets
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies for cost reduction
- Prepare comprehensive site management reports with financial data and analysis, highlighting key findings and areas of improvement
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Ensure timely and precise financial reporting to meet internal and external requirements
- Manage inventory valuation, including raw materials and finished products
- Balance Sheet account reconciliations
- Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis to evaluate the performance of mine operations
- Provide data-driven recommendations for improving profitability and efficiency
- Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and projections
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with procurement, maintenance, other departments and corporate office to streamline processes and use of Pronto ERP
- Collaborate with site management teams to analyse and understand costs, and provide financial insights to support decision-making
- Collaborate with site leadership to ensure reports align with strategic goals and objectives
- Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and legal regulations
- Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CA certification preferred
- Proven experience in accounting and financial analysis, with at least 2 years in a similar role
- Proficiency in using the Pronto ERP system, or similar ERP software, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of mining operations and related financial considerations is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Ability and willingness to work flexible (sometimes irregular) hours
- Current Australian working rights
- Current ‘C’ class Australian drivers Licence
