Ausdrill are seeking an experienced Manager, HSE to join the team in Canning Vale. The role will see you support the Australian operations team to better understand the nature of the risks and facilitate action to improve the Safety and wellbeing of people, and continually improve HSE performance across the Australian Surface Mining business. The role will provide expert guidance and support to Area Managers in the execution of HSE systems, strategies and initiatives, and direct line leadership to the Australian region HSE Superintendent.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Operations Manager and Ausdrill Senior Leadership Team to provide subject expert guidance and support in the interpretation and implementation of Perenti Contract Mining’s HSE systems, strategies and initiatives throughout the region, and to support ongoing improvements to safety leadership and culture in line with the Ausdrill Principles Behavioural Charter.
- Attend site and support continuous improvement in HSE performance by spending time in the field with senior leaders, site leaders and HSE personnel coaching in the implementation of a variety of field leadership and control verification activities, and to assist in a better understanding of the nature of risk at the site, improve understanding about work as normal and facilitate improvements to enabling safe work.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, leadership, and advisory support for site HSE teams and site operational leaders.
- Support the Area Manager and Ausdrill senior leaders in the implementation of strategic HSE initiatives and improvement plans and provide oversight and governance of initiatives and plans in conjunction with other Contract Mining HSE teams.
- Liaising with direct line managers and HR, coordinate movements of HSE team members between sites to best meet business requirements, strengthen the HSE talent pipeline and as part of individual development plan goals.
- In conjunction with relevant stakeholders, develop and oversee the execution of the Annual HSE plan.
- Actively participate in the performance management and development of HSE personnel.
- Regularly assess the performance of sites, providing governance of the implementation of strategic safety initiatives and improvement plans to achieve HSE targets and objectives.
- Facilitate sharing of lessons learned and good practice to ensure consistency and alignment across the region.
- Oversee the implementation of incident reporting and investigation processes, including the review of incident investigations and provision of support to ensure high quality outcomes are achieved, and develop strategies to continually improve the quality of investigations and outcomes.
- Regularly engage with site teams and conduct regular assessments of sites to ensure compliance to the HSE systems, including the Critical Risk Management Framework and other safety system elements, providing feedback to relevant stakeholders.
- Undertake performance and data analysis to identify performance trends or improvement opportunities.
- As required, provide support to the Ausdrill site HSE and operational team in interfacing with the client regarding Perenti HSE systems, performance, service delivery and improvement plans.
- Attend site as required to facilitate ICAM investigations for Serious Potential Incidents ensuring comprehensive, fact-based reports have been provided and all other reporting requirements completed within relevant timeframes.
- Identify requirements for and oversee the development/update of procedures and guidelines concerning new and emerging HSE practices.
Key Requirements:
- Relevant Health and Safety qualifications (Certificate or Diploma)
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in a HSE role within mining or a related industry.
- High level of understanding of surface drilling principles and practices.
- Competent in facilitating ICAM investigations.
- Completed or undertaking Safety Futures Advanced Safety Professionals Program
- Member of the Australian Institute of Health and Safety is strongly encouraged.
- High degree of understanding of risk management principles and ability to facilitate risk assessments.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of safety models and theories based off current research and operational knowledge and the ability to interpret signs and symptoms and advise.
