Are you passionate about creating positive impacts for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in higher education? James Cook University (JCU) is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to fill the role of Manager, Indigenous Student Support Programs. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead and contribute to the success of Indigenous students at JCU.

  • Full-time and continuing position
  • Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus
  • HEWL 9: $119,074 - $125,947 per annum plus up to 17% superannuation
  • This is a designated position for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE 
You will lead the delivery of high-quality, student-focused Indigenous academic and support services, covering courses, mobility, academic progression, student conduct, and wellbeing matters. Your leadership will drive quality and compliance through effective team management, fostering an engaging, values-driven, and inclusive culture within the Indigenous academic and Student Support team. As a member of the IERC’s leadership team, you will contribute to strategic objective setting, embodying cultural and values expectations. Continuous improvement initiatives will be part of your role, involving the facilitation of initiatives that enhance outcomes for Indigenous students through the development, review, and enhancement of policies and processes. Effective information-sharing initiatives and collaborative activities will be led by you, building strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders within the University and the sector.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE 
To be successful in this role, you should have postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience in a similar role. Demonstrated knowledge of National Policy imperatives in Indigenous higher education and experience in developing and reviewing operational plans, policies, and procedures aligned with industry best practices is essential. Strong management skills, organisational proficiency, and exceptional communication skills, including cross-cultural communication, are prerequisites.

A current Working with Children ‘Blue Card’ is also a requirement, and the role may involve occasional travel.
