We have a rare opportunity for a Manager Nursing Midwifery Policy, Practices, and Initiatives to join our dynamic FWLHD Nursing and Midwifery team. In this role you will work both autonomously and collaboratively with key partners, UDRH and other LHD’s, to develop and create programs and documentation.Reporting and working closely with the Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery/Director Clinical Governance, you are responsible for provision of operational and strategic leadership and management of Nursing Midwifery Policy, practice, professional practice, programs and Initiatives to achieve quality patient outcomes.Your broad nursing background, experience leading and growing high performing teams, ability to juggle multiple priorities, strategic mindset, project management and ability to influence, will be vital, as you lead the way in the development and implementation of initiatives including the new policy framework and clinical trials framework, along with implementation of ECAT into FWLHD.Some of your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery to manage nursing and midwifery services across the health service, providing leadership to achieve professional and organisational standards of nursing and midwifery practice, research, patient care and patient experience.
  • Facilitate, coordinate and lead development and implementation of nursing and Midwifery Policy, procedure, guidelines, and clinical pathways, to ensure embedding in evidence based Practice and integration into patient care.
  • Lead cultural change through practice development, teamwork and transformational leadership that promotes learning, skill enhancement and leadership to drive nursing and midwifery as a profession and contribute to improved patient outcomes in the Health Service.
  • Provide enhanced clinical and operational support to the Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery in addressing the key issues identified within the strategic plan, namely the use of evidence based models of care and service frameworks to provide a cohesive and integrated health service.

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:
  • Have 5 years’ senior experience with current AHPRA registration in nursing and or midwifery and have relevant tertiary and or post graduate qualifications in health management, health education, health policy and planning, or similar; or working towards the same.
  • Demonstrated advanced communication and people skills including verbal and written forms of communication, including briefs and policy submissions and group facilitation.
  • Demonstrated experience in a nursing leadership role involving nursing and midwifery professional practice, change management, conflict resolution, motivational and team development skills together with the ability to apply complex problem solving strategies.
  • Proven ability to function effectively as part of a senior management team and to work successfully with other professionals, disciplines and Ministry of Health pillars in the management and leadership of health care services.
  • Broad clinical experience and operational management expertise at a senior level within a health care environment, including strategic planning, the development, implementation & evaluation of organisational Strategic & Business Plans and Project Management.
  • Evidence of successful achievement in financial management & the ability to develop financial efficiency strategies and achieve goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and facilitate the implementation and development of policy/guidelines, evidence based Practice and ensure quality processes are in line with accreditation standards of clinical governance.
