We are excited to be partnering with the Moira Shire Council in sourcing their next Manager of Planning Services
As Manager Planning Services your core objective will be to efficiently and effectively manage Council's planning function through the delivery of strategic and statutory planning for the municipality.
We are looking for someone with the technical competencies, experience, and qualifications for the role, along with a proven track record in people management and cultural change.
With well-appointed offices in the beautiful Cobram, Moira Shire Council is a forward-thinking local government organisation dedicated to serving the diverse needs of the community.
Key Responsibilities and Functions:
- Direct and develop strategic plans, policies, strategies, and procedures for the Planning Team.
- Evaluate, analyze, and make recommendations to Council on statutory and strategic planning matters.
- Develop and administer policies and controls to encourage sustainable development appropriate to the environment and character of the Shire.
- Represent Council in relevant forums and provide professional advice regarding planning matters.
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Planning Services staff, including staff development, training, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations and relevant legislation.
- Report to Council on planning matters relating to development activities across the municipality.
- Manage departmental budgets and resource matters.
- Actively promote Council's legislative responsibilities and key initiatives within the community.
To be successful in this role the successful applicant will have:
- A degree in Town Planning or relevant qualification.
- Demonstrated senior experience in managing people, finance, and resources.
- Experience in town planning or related discipline, including assessment of various planning applications.
- Proficiency in relevant software such as Spear and GIS.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships internally and externally.
