Manager Risk Management, Fundamentals Chapter

As a member in the Risk Fundamentals Chapter, you are integral as a risk advisor for the Customer Engagement and Digital (CE&D) business to effectively manage and optimise its operational risk and compliance control environment under the guidance of your Chapter Lead. You will achieve this through partnering with business, risk and compliance experts to deliver foundational risk services including profiling, control advice, issue and incident management, and risk governance.

Your role is part of the CE&D Risk Fundamental Chapter that resides in the RBS Chief Controls office. You are part of a team that ensures CE&D adheres to the Operational Risk and Compliance ( OR&C ) Management Frameworks, and assists the CE&D Risk Business Partners with their recommendations to improve business processes, controls, systems and procedures to identify and/or limit risks, including monitoring of risk appetite. CE&D supports CBA customers manage their personal banking via our Digital assets, CommBank App and NetBank. This Chapter supports CE&D crews and the Retail Resolution team (RRT). Our vision is to enable the CE&D team to make informed risk-reward decisions that deliver better customer outcomes.
On any given day, you will:
Work with your Chapter Lead and Risk Business Partner to provide senior leaders with key information for the quarterly planning process
Identify and assess risks and compliance obligations to the business and determine the overall effectiveness of the control environment to ensure they are managed within appetite
Support the business with designing and implementing controls, providing guidance and advice to senior leaders on their application
Ensure timely management of issues and incidents, including providing advice, facilitating root cause analysis, action planning, and control design and implementation to drive improvements in overall control effectiveness
Refresh Risk and Compliance Self Assessments and Compliance Self-Assessments timely and to quality upon a trigger event
Participate in the preparation of non-financial risk sub-committee reporting
Identify, initiate and manage actions to mitigate risks and to strengthen controls when issues and incidents are raised, including issues identified through audits and other external processes
Work with other Chapter team members to drive adherence to the Supplier and Model policy, standards and controls requirements
Work with the Change Risk Chapter in your Domain on initiatives
Role model and drive proactive compliance and Risk Management culture
Facilitate audits and other external assurance activities with the business
Support the business with compliance with Group Policies
We're interested in hearing from people who have:
Solid experience in Operational Risk Management ideally within retail banking and/or consumer finance
Demonstrated knowledge of Operational and Compliance Risk frameworks and experience with issues and incidents, risk profiles and controls
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to build rapport at all levels and with Senior Stakeholders
Ability to think critically and analytically and use data insights to solve problems
Knowledge of Supplier / Third Party risk will be advantageous
2-5 years’ experience in banking/financial services/other relevant experience, and/or minimum 2+ years’ experience in Operational Risk management roles
