The Opportunity
The Transport Strategy and Planning Division develops policies andlegal instruments; and establishes strategic plans, standards andprogram management frameworks for network development to delivercustomer, community and economic benefits and outcomes.
As the Manager of Road Network Planning, you will provideleadership in the provision of technical and specialist input intomulti-modal transport strategies. Your role will overseefeasibility analysis and studies of potential future transportasset improvements, ensuring that studies and outputs are sound androbust, integrating effectively with Departmental and governmentpriorities and initiatives.
As a key member of the Directorate leadership group, you will havemanagerial responsibility for a professional team, includingresource allocation, staff development, performance management, andleadership.
You will represent the Department at various industry forums, leadstakeholder engagement, and ensure outputs are focused onstakeholder and customer needs.
The role will ensure a strong emphasis on and integration of safetyin ROAD NETWORK PLANNING and programs, as well as providingrelevant advice and managing funding agreements with external assetowners for projects funded through the agency. Your contributionswill be key in the continuous improvement of the directoratethrough business planning and leadership of initiatives.
About You
We are seeking a candidate with extensive experience anddemonstrated success in driving outcomes and delivering timely andwell-positioned outputs. The successful candidate will havecomprehensive knowledge of strategic issues and opportunitiesimpacting transport systems, along with the ability to successfullyengage with stakeholders and influence decisions to achieve win-winoutcomes.
They will demonstrate extensive experience in communicatingeffectively and influencing and negotiating outcomes that aretechnically and politically sound, as well as the ability to thinkinnovatively and strategically to deliver well-positioned adviceand plans.
The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive and contemporaryknowledge of the issues, risks, trends, and directions of thetransport system, along with extensive experience in theleadership, management, and development of teams. They will havedemonstrated experience in driving change and reforms to ensureoutputs are leading-edge and will possess the ability to workcollaboratively across diverse disciplines and actively engage andunderstand the needs of internal, external, and communityinterests.

Qualifications/Experience
Comprehensiveknowledge of strategic issues and opportunities impacting ontransport systems is essential.

We are opento hear from you on how you will apply your expertise to the roleand appointment may be to the MAS3 or PO5 classification level,noting the following is also provided: 
MAS3-  A relevant tertiary qualification ineconomics, finance, commerce, business, management, or a relatedfield will be highly regarded.
PO5 - To be eligible for appointment at thisclassification, a degree level qualification in Engineering orother relevant engineering discipline or a recognised degree orrecognised post graduate qualification in the discipline ofPlanning is required.
The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrateprofessional engineering or planning expertise, competence, andexperience directly related and applicable to ROAD NETWORK PLANNINGand as to enable them to be providing professional advice andservices in circumstances requiring complex technical skills.

Special Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to provide a NationalPolice Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department forInfrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every threeyears.
Some out of hours and weekend work, along with someintra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may berequired.
Remuneration
PO5- $122,610 - $128,328 per annum
MAS3 - $125,970 per annum
