This position responsible for providing technical guidance to a diverse group of engineering professionals who have multiple stakeholder and Technical Interfaces, with a strong focus on engineering systems, quality, technical innovation and Process Safety. Your role is to grow the expertise of these professionals and establish the team as a global centre of excellence for integration of engineering disciplines, emerging technologies, and Process Safety. The role has a wide range of stakeholder interfaces and requires strong interpersonal skills and management, including assurance and support to Fortescue Energy Projects Development and Delivery.
As a leader, you will identify requirements and opportunities to develop skills and expertise within the Technical Interfaces and Process Safety (TIPS) Team to meet the current and future requirements of Fortescue. You will be required to plan and prioritise resource allocations, review and provide guidance in the completion of technical works including conceptual design and technical assurance for projects involving a diverse range of technical discipline inputs and stakeholder requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to a team of professionals to effectively deliver technical interface and Process Safety requirements for a range of studies to meet business objectives.
- Support and lead the development of process improvements for support in existing and emerging technologies for Ammonia, Hydrogen and clean fuel facilities, while also ensuring integration of key Technical Interfaces for projects and Process Safety requirements are met.
- Participation as a key lead stakeholder in risk assessments, safety in design and hazard identification for projects.
- Develop process and document improvements to simplify engineering support and interfaces with key stakeholders.
- Compilation and review of technical reports and engineering technical specifications and standards.
- Liaising with a range of internal and external project stakeholders and provide support to a diverse team of professionals across multiple parts of the value chain.
- Review consultants' feasibility and detailed designs and where necessary challenge these to drive down cost and reduce schedule.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent Engineering degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil or Environmental Engineering and hold a Registered Professional Engineer status with a recognised professional body.
- Prior experience in a similar role (consultant or client owner) preferably in the renewable energy sector, major hazard facilities or on large complex multi-discipline projects. International experience highly regarded.
- A broad knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering activities and the processes for integration of these disciplines for effective outcomes.
- Working knowledge of industry standards, guidelines and best practice (familiarity with international codes and standards will be beneficial).
- A strong capability in adapting to multidisciplinary requirements to communicate a range of water treatment concepts to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Passionate/keen interest in mentorship to foster ongoing capability building within the team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a willingness to travel for short periods.
