As one of the world's leading grains research organisations, the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) plays an integral role in driving research outcomes and innovations that directly benefit the Australian grain industry. We are seeking a Manager, Value Chain Innovation to use their professional expertise and knowledge to: Work with GRDC’s internal and external stakeholders to support and further develop GRDC’s existing portfolio in market information, education and variety classification; Develop and/or leverage the application of advanced technologies in the grains Value Chain with an emphasis on innovation that supports greater value capture by Australian grain growers; Support GRDC’s investment pipeline building and management across the broader AgTech portfolio, and; Translate the outcomes of innovation within the portfolio into tangible impact for Australian grain growers. We require a person to: Oversee the development of robust R&D proposals that define return on investment, path to market and related technical and adoption risks and assumptions for investments. Actively manage a portfolio of R&D investments, including for the timely delivery and quality of agreed milestones and outputs, adjustments in project approaches and/or repurposing resources to deliver higher impact outcomes. Support planning and executing path to market strategies for the extension or commercialisation of project outputs. Maintain extensive networks within the bulk handling, grain trading/marketing, food processing, Ag and Food-Technology and transport and logistics sectors, including with commercial, grains industry, research, and government stakeholders. Facilitate discussions with investment managers, researchers, grain growers and other stakeholders to deliver on GRDC’s Purpose. Identify communication opportunities for the corporate communications and digital publications teams as they arise. About You: The ideal candidate will have: Demonstrated experience in a related operating environment i.e. R&D investment, technology development and deployment, grain marketing and/or logistics, value added food production/processing or supply chain analytics. Strong commercial acumen including the ability to succinctly analyse the merits of investment. Demonstrated knowledge or related industry experience on commercial delivery of R&D outputs in appropriate products. Demonstrated experience in project negotiation, facilitation and management of contracts involving commercial and public sector partners in a relevant industry (5+ years’ desirable); Proven understanding of commercial principles including finance, brand management, IP management, licensing and deal development. Highly developed presentation, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to influence, motivate and develop others. Strong analytical skills and the capacity to leverage off external expertise and think strategically, including the ability to provide sound project and issue advice. You must be prepared to travel interstate when required, hold a valid Australian Driver’s License and be willing to undergo all pre-employment medical checks.
