Marine Electronics Service Technician
A unique opportunity has opened for a meticulous and skilled Marine Electronic Service Technician to join our close-knit team. Based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney you will fill a crucial role in our technical workshop, focusing on fault finding, intricate electronic repairs, marine network and integration support, and providing exceptional customer service to our dealer network and retail outlets across the region.
This position reports to the service manager and is primarily office/workshop based role with occasional field trips and trade show events. We support a broad range of maritime products and customer groups which allows for daily variety in servicing maritime commercial, first responders, fishing, sailing and cruising markets.
The role overview:
- Perform repairs and maintenance on electronic products and complete systems in a technical workshop
- Conduct diagnostic tests and fault-finding on marine electronic navigational, sonar, radar equipment, maritime visible and thermal cameras
- Refurbish products with methodical validation and attention to detail
- Provide technical service assistance to a broad range of internal and external partners
- Identify and document improvement areas for engineering review
Skills and experience
- Experience equivalent to and/or qualification in Marine Electronics, DC electrical or related industry
- Fault finding, troubleshooting and post repair analysis
- Strong understanding of IT networks, IP technology, and computer hardware/software
- Manual dexterity and ability to work with various tools including intricate circuitry and small objects
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide technical support remotely and in person
- Experience in supporting trade shows, industry events, or retail environments is advantageous
- Ability to self-start, work unsupervised, proritise work demands, documentation and interest in learning
Other desirable skills
- Previous marine electronic and thermal camera equipment maintenance/servicing experience
- Mechanical and hydraulics knowledge, diagnostics or servicing
- Understanding of ethernet network protocols, NMEA 2000/NMEA 0183 or CAN
- Love for all aspects of the marine industry and desire to contribute
