AddressHapuku Fisheries Pty Ltd is a leading commercial tuna fishing company based in Southport, QLD. We are dedicated to maintaining high standards in our fleet operations and are currently seeking a skilled Marine Mechanic/Engineer to join our team full-time.
Role Description: The Marine Mechanic/Engineer will be responsible for the daily maintenance and upkeep of our fishing vessels. This role demands a proactive approach to maintenance and a strong ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the shore manager and vessel skippers to ensure operational efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative checks on all vessel systems.
- Diagnose and repair engine and machinery problems.
- Manage automatic controls and alarm systems, ensuring they are functional.
- Conduct engine oil tests and monitor their outcomes.
- Maintain safety equipment and ensure compliance with AMSA survey requirements.
- Keep detailed records of all engineering activities and service histories.
- Compile weekly reports on maintenance, repairs, and any ongoing issues.
- Prepare vessels for sea and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
- Travel occasionally to other ports as required.
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum of five years' experience in marine mechanics or a related field.
- Formal qualifications in marine engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work flexible hours to align with vessel schedules.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
